Rugby match kicks off when the umpire (person who looks after the proceedings of the match) spins the coin and decides which team will kickoff first. When the referee blows his whistle the kicker will kick the ball and the match begins.

Rugby balls have a very unconventional shape, in comparison to other soccer ball, rugby balls have oval shape. Rugby balls are similar to balls used in American Football.
